Kay Sandberg

Kay Sandberg is Founder/Director of Global Force for Healing, an Ashland-based nonprofit organization with global reach. She founded the organization out of a profound commitment to the power of compassion and love as driving forces for personal and global transformation. Kay believes all people and communities have the ability and the right to enjoy wellbeing and peace when given sufficient resources and support (www.globalforceforhealing.org). She is a passionate advocate for equal access to respectful, quality health care and education for underserved groups. Global Force’s work focuses on the Compassionate Birth Network of 15 grassroots projects and birth centers in Africa, Asia and the Americas.

 

Kay is an ACPC Ambassador, serving on the Funding Team and strategic planning group. Global Force for Healing and ACPC were co-hosts for the 2016 Compassion Tour with David Breaux to seed a deeper level of compassionate action in the Rogue Valley. Kay aspires to bring the Compassion Games and other International Campaign for Compassionate Communities activities to the Rogue Valley in future.

 

Kay’s professional background is as a network convener, catalyst, facilitator, sought-after speaker and workshop leader. She led Fall 2017 workshops for ACPC on “Making Peace with Money, Parts I and II,” based on her previous work as director of the Soul of Money Institute/Office of Lynne Twist in San Francisco. At the same time she was organizational capacity consultant to the Jungle Mamas program, a maternal & newborn health program in the Ecuadorian Amazon, now part of the Pachamama Alliance.

 

Prior to her work at the Soul of Money Institute and Pachamama Alliance, Kay was Co-Founder and first CEO of Health Medicine Institute (HMI), an alternative and complementary healing center in the San Francisco Bay Area. She also had a successful corporate training, coaching, and consulting company for high tech companies in Asia/Pacific and Silicon Valley for many years, and was senior consultant at SRI International (Stanford Research Institute) for five years.

 

Kay is a member of the Global Respectful Maternal Care Council. She is a sought-after speaker and convener at global conferences, including the UN Commission on the Status of Women. She is also a Strategic Partner of Luminary Communications based in Ashland (luminarycommunications.org), a member of Southern Oregon Birth Connections, and an OLLI course leader.

 

Kay has a Masters Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Stanford University with a concentration in Intercultural Communication and Asian Studies. She is a lifelong learner, with extensive training in diversity & inclusion, fundraising, team performance, leadership and organizational development, and spiritual mastery. Kay has lived and traveled globally, is fluent in Japanese and has conversational ability in Spanish. She draws inspiration from the love of her family and dog Lucy.
